POSTDOCS

Responsibilities:

Conduct independent research project(s) on the role of ion channels and/or transporters in adaptive (T cells, B cells) and innate (macrophages etc) immune responses in vitro and in vivo.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with a background in immunology.
  • Interest in studying the role of ion channels in immunity (prior expertise a plus but not required).
  • Experience in murine models of infection, tumors and autoimmunity.
  • Expertise in molecular and cell biology.
  • Evidence of productivity from publications in peer-reviewed, primary research journals originating from Ph.D. or postdoctoral work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, and creativity.

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN

Research in the Feske lab is focused on how ion channels regulate the function of immune cells, immunity to infections and tumors and autoimmunity. The Feske lab is a member of the vibrant immunology community at NYU and the Ion Channels & Transporters in Immunity (ICTI) program, which provides a rich environment for research in this field.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Help with general lab management (ordering, stocking of lab supplies lab)
  • Management of transgenic mouse colony including breeding and genotyping
  • Assist postdoctoral fellows with their research projects.
  • Conduct experiments that use several of the following methods: PCR, cloning of recombinant DNA, basic molecular biology methods, cell culture of immune cells, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, flow cytometry (FACS), protein biochemistry such as Western blotting and IP, fluorescence microscopy and/or live-cell imaging

General requirements:

  • B.S. in biology, biochemistry or related areas
  • Research lab experience
  • Highly motivated, responsible and very well organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills in oral and written English.
